Introduction

The Lego money tree is a unique Lego piece that is inspired by the Pilea Peperomioides. AKA the Chinese money plant. This set is simple to build. Nor is it too easy. The set comes with 336 pieces and of course an instruction manual.

The instructions are clear. It comes with no stickers, as the pieces come prepared with the decals. This means that the decals won’t peel off from the bricks. In this review, we will rate the set by looks, durability, instructions and value for money. I hope you enjoy it!

Instructions:

Like any other official Lego product, the instructions are self-explanatory and user-friendly. It tells you which bag the certain pieces are in like another product. It also shows clearly which pieces should be used in the build. Honestly, the only part of the instructions that kinda of threw me off was when I was making the trunk and didn’t realize that you needed to put 2 triangular pieces around the middle. So that is 10/10 for the instructions.

Durability:

Surprisingly this Lego build was actually heavy and felt really strong compared to other Lego plants. But the leaves are not as secured as the trunk of the tree. The coins and the Lego red pockets also have a risk of falling. As I mentioned earlier there are no stickers on the Lego bricks but instead, you can find Lego pieces with decals already applied on them. This also removes the issue of not placing the stickers exactly where you want them. (It disturbs me a lot when I misplace it by 1 millimetre). Overall I rate the durability 7/10

Looks:

In my opinion, the looks of the final build were okay. The pot is well made and so is the trunk. The leaves do look a little off though. The top of the tree does not look natural either. There are ancient Chinese coins, pumpkins which represent mandarins and red pockets that stick to the leaves. There are also 2 neat little golden nuggets. The overall look is definitely not going to fool someone into thinking that it’s a real tree. (or plant because of its size) Overall for the looks, I would rate this 6.5 out of 10. Obviously, there are better-looking plant sets out there.

Value for money:

This set was not expensive. Coming at around 25 USD on the official Lego Website. I was honestly pretty impressed by the number of pieces that it came with. So I would definitely say that this Lego build is on the affordable side. But if you buy it on the Canadian website on Amazon it costs significantly more. I recommend buying it from the official store instead if you want to find better deals. 10/10 for the value of money

Final Thoughts/ Conclusion:

Things I liked

  • The golden nuggets (basically all the little details)
  • The Pot for the plant
  • Not too hard to build but still fun
  • Great decoration for the Lunar New Year
  • Affordable

Things that I did not like

  • The top does not look as good
  • Leaves look unnatural
  • A little hard to find in certain countries

Overall I would highly recommend this set to anyone even if you don’t celebrate the Lunar New Year. It is truly an amazing piece and it is really fun to build. It’s almost perfect. To the details, to the price. I just wished that the top of the plant was improved.

I hope you enjoyed reading this review of the Lego Money Tree. Be sure to check out my other blogs as well!
